The Kenton County Detention Center collaborates with local police departments and health care and rehabilitation providers to implement the Kentucky Overdose Prevention and Education (KOPE) Project, which has three main goals: to conduct an analysis of the severity of the opioid crisis; to develop a multidisciplinary approach, including police outreach and diversion to treatment, to address the needs of overdose survivors; and to implement strategies to identify and provide treatment to high frequency users of multiple systems who have a history of opioid misuse. Northern Kentucky University will serve as the research partner.
