The Technology-Assisted Treatment Expansion Program is using technology to improve access to treatment, engage individuals in early treatment pre-release programs, and provide a continuum of treatment services for individuals involved in the Fayette County justice system. This project, which builds on an existing countywide program, is providing software and associated equipment to three pilot sites to facilitate audio/video conferencing between treatment providers and individuals who are incarcerated or under supervision in the community. Increased access to service providers eliminates the burdensome costs associated with lengthy travel in rural areas to receive treatment, decreases potential barriers to client engagement in the treatment process, and promotes reduction in recidivism. In addition, delivering technology-assisted services throughout the county is reimbursable at the state level and, therefore, sustainable through partners such as the Indiana Recovery Works program.
